Plague Knight

The first all-new class in Diablo 5. Game director Joe Shely called it "a walking death" on stage. Not to be confused with the Shovel Knight character of the same name. → Plague Knight Confirmed[T2] warcraft.blizzplanet.com · verified Oct 6, 2026

Demon Hunter

Back with twin crossbows and the scarf. Shely calls it "a new representation of the class": different, but recognizable if you started in Diablo III. → Demon Hunter Interview[T3] mmorpg.com · verified Oct 8, 2026

Monk

Brings "martial perfection" back to Sanctuary: demons pulped by fists, and holy light called down on anything out of reach. → Monk Confirmed[B1] news.blizzard.com · verified Oct 9, 2026[T2] warcraft.blizzplanet.com · verified Oct 9, 2026

How many classes will Diablo 5 have?

No number yet. But Blizzard has been unusually specific about the ambition:

Which calculations, where they come from and which classes could return, all labeled as speculation: → Diablo 5 classes that are not confirmed

Which classes from earlier games are back?

Only two are confirmed: Demon Hunter and Monk. No other class from the series (Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorceress, Druid, Rogue, Paladin, Crusader, Amazon…) has been announced for Diablo 5. Confirmed[B1] news.blizzard.com · verified Oct 9, 2026

In one interview, the team said it wants players coming from any Diablo to find something familiar (the interviewer's paraphrase). That is not an announcement of any specific class. Interview[T3] playday.one · verified Oct 6, 2026

Light versus darkness?

Per PlayDay's paraphrase, the team described some classes leaning toward the light, like the Monk, and others toward darkness, like the Plague Knight. It is a way of describing them, not an announced mechanic. Interview[T3] playday.one · verified Oct 6, 2026

How will the classes play?

The only general statement so far: classes that are easy to pick up, with "deep ARPG mastery" and "a multitude of builds" (Joe Shely, panel). Blizzard promises more on combat, progression and builds later. Confirmed[T2] warcraft.blizzplanet.com · verified Oct 9, 2026[B1] news.blizzard.com · verified Oct 9, 2026

What we don't know yet

As of October 9, 2026, Blizzard has not published:

  • how many classes there will be, or which come next;
  • when the next class reveal happens;
  • skills, resources, skill trees or stats for any class;
  • whether classes will have specializations or respecs.

Once official skills and stats exist, this page gets a class comparison tool.
