What the Diablo 5 Developers Have Said Since the Reveal

AnswerInterview[T3]×3 windowscentral.com + pcgamer.com + techradar.com · verified Oct 10, 2026Verified on Oct 10, 2026

Blizzard hasn't announced anything new about Diablo 5 since BlizzCon, but the team has talked a lot. In interviews published between September 12 and 29, 2026, the developers place the game about 100 years after Diablo IV and promise multiplayer and a complete endgame. They also talk about building on Diablo IV's tech and a caravan full of characters worth remembering. All of it is interview status, not an official announcement.

After the September 12, 2026, panel, Joe Shely, Matt Zitterman, Tiffany Wat, John Mueller and Jennifer Brandes Hepler sat down with the press at BlizzCon. Those interviews contain details that weren't in Blizzard's official article. We read every one at the source and sum them up here, each with its status.

What has Blizzard announced?

Nothing new on its own channels. As of October 10, 2026, the official site still shows the same Spring 2029 window, with no platforms, price or beta. The official YouTube channel hasn't posted a Diablo 5 video since September 12. Confirmed[B1]×2 diablo5.blizzard.com + youtube.com · verified Oct 10, 2026

Blizzard's only statement as a company was written, to one outlet: "We are not announcing platforms today" (Kotaku, Sept. 17, 2026). It exists only in the press. Interview[T3] kotaku.com · verified Oct 9, 2026

What changes in the codex

Nothing moves up to confirmed: everything new is interview status. What does change:

  • The "100 years" move from rumor to interview. → Sanctuary in Diablo 5 and Diablo 5 story
  • Multiplayer now has a direct quote. FAQ
  • Engine: "Diablo IV's foundation" and "own branch," not "the same engine." FAQ
  • The caravan adds scarce survivors, the blacksmith and jeweler, and safe locations. Diablo 5 caravan
  • Items add deferred complexity and Diablo II: Resurrected. Diablo 5 items
  • The procedural world adds the fog that returns when the caravan moves. Procedural world
  • The release date adds the reasons behind "very confident." Release date

What we don't know yet

As of October 10, 2026, neither Blizzard nor its team has said:

  • the exact date, platforms, price or beta;
  • how multiplayer works or whether the world is shared;
  • which systems the endgame will have;
  • any more classes, or how many there will be;
  • whether the century or the seven lost years will have an official in-game name.

Blizzard promises regular updates starting in 2027. Confirmed[B1] news.blizzard.com · verified Oct 10, 2026
