What has Blizzard confirmed?
Blizzard's recap ("Forging the Next Era") sums it up: the Demon Hunter comes back to stalk Hell's forces with twin crossbows, hitting from the shadows and bounding across the field to finish its prey. Confirmed[B1] news.blizzard.com · verified Oct 9, 2026
On stage, game director Joe Shely gave the image that sells it: "so agile, leaping through the air, pinning demons against the walls." He also name-checked the silhouette, "their scarf, their twin crossbows" (panel video). Confirmed[T2] warcraft.blizzplanet.com · verified Oct 6, 2026

Is it the Diablo III Demon Hunter?
Not quite. In a BlizzCon group interview published September 22, 2026, Shely made three points (MMORPG.com):
- Interview[T3] mmorpg.com · verified Oct 8, 2026It is a fresh take: "It's a new representation of the class," and it's "going to be different."
- Interview[T3] mmorpg.com · verified Oct 8, 2026Diablo III players will recognize it: "familiar but also new at the same time."
- Interview[T3] mmorpg.com · verified Oct 8, 2026The crossbows stay: "you're still going to have twin crossbows," to "pay off that nostalgia."
What Shely did not say is how it changes. Only that it will.
What we don't know yet
As of October 9, 2026, Blizzard has not revealed:
- its skills or resource;
- whether it uses any weapon besides crossbows;
- exactly how it differs from the Diablo III version;
- its skill tree.
We don't assume anything from Diablo III carries over unless Blizzard says so, crossbows aside.

FAQ
Is the Demon Hunter in Diablo 5?
Yes. It is one of the three confirmed classes and one of two returning classes, alongside the Monk.
What weapons does the Demon Hunter use in Diablo 5?
Twin crossbows. That is the only confirmed part of its kit.
Is it the same Demon Hunter as in Diablo III?
Not exactly. Joe Shely calls it "a new representation of the class": different, but familiar if you played Diablo III.
Did Blizzard release an official statement on the Demon Hunter?
No. The quotes circulating since October 7, 2026 come from a group interview published on September 22, not a Blizzard statement.
What are the Demon Hunter's skills in Diablo 5?
None have been revealed. Blizzard promises more on combat, progression and builds.
